***Call for Submissions on a Special Theme***Journeys
From Homer’s Odyssey, The Travels of Marco Polo to Jack Kerouac’s On the Road, tales of travel have held a prominent place in storytelling traditions around the world. To honor and extend this universal heritage, the Spring 2019 issue of Vistas & Byways will feature a selection of works on the theme of travel (or journeying).
Before we send you off, let us clarify what we mean by “travel,” a concept so ubiquitous in the English lexicon that one online thesaurus offers 266 synonyms. Whether your submission is about a real or imaginary expedition, trip, trek, pilgrimage, excursion, peregrination or perambulation, we will consider it for inclusion in the special section only if it involves a literal or figurative journey of human or non-human being(s) from one place to another. We welcome submissions in all genres—travelogue, creative nonfiction, science fiction, short story, poetry and photo essay, to name a few—so long as they meet general submission guidelines. If your work is not accepted for the special section, we will still consider it for publication in the issue. Bon Voyage!
Submissions for Vistas & Byways, Spring '19, will be accepted during February 2019 |
